YOUR HOME BUILDING HELPER FROM START TO FINISH
Tips & Facts from the Pros
It is important to make sure that there are no misunderstandings in the building process. We recommend that you document your payments and any changes to the contract with the proper paperwork. For your convenience we have included a
change order form
and a
receipt and lien waiver form
in a PDF format that you may download and print. We also recommend that you always have a written bid and ask when the job is scheduled for completion. Be sure that your subcontractors are licensed and insured and you have that information either on file or make sure that they can get it for you.
There were some new regulations passed this year concerning owner builders and you are required to play by the same rules as general contractors. If you are audited by the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing you could be fined if your subcontractors are not licensed and insured.
